Product emails focus on product notifications, alerts, updates, and any other information information around what the user is already doing in the product.
These emails’ main focus is not to sell something or promote the use of new features.

As most users view emails on their phone, keep in mind to always optimize for mobile. The shorter we can keep subject and preheader lines, the better.
Length recommendations here are based on where an Iphone Pro, default font size, would truncate the sentence.
Subject lines
- Main message of the email
- Length: No more than 40 characters; more or less 6-7 words
Preheader lines
- Use for any secondary messages of the email
- No more than 99 characters
Email greetings
Users receive a lot of emails from us, and usually quite often. Avoid email greetings for product emails as much as possible to keep them as light-weight as possible.

If unsure about how often a user may receive an email, avoid adding a greeting, unless:
- The email is bad news or a very serious communication (payment failed, unsufficient funds for payroll)
- It’s an email that’ss directly from Homebase (and not simply facilitating communication between OAM <> EE)
